- Root Element
  The root element for a container is a <container> element.
- Metadata
  Capture metadata for a container in a <metadata> element.
  - Container Status
    Capture the status of a container in a <container-status> element.
  - Container ID
    Capture identifiers for the container in <container-id> elements.
  - Contained By
    If a container is associated with one or more journals then capture the information inside a <contained-by> element.
  - Container Title
    Capture the title for a container in a <container-title> element child of <title-group> element.
  - Publication Date
    Capture the publication date for a container in a <pub-date>element.
  - History Dates
    Capture history dates for a container using a <history> element.
  - Contributors
    Contributor information for a book is captured in <contrib-group> elements.
    - Authors and Editors
      Capture each author or editor contributor in a <contrib> element child of <contrib-group>
    - Collaborations
      Capture a collaboration group in a <contrib> element child of <contrib-group>
    - Contributor Cross References
      Contributors with any associated affiliation, footnote or biography information must have that information explicitly linked using an <xref> element.

Affiliations

Capture affiliations in <aff> elements.

<aff> elements must be captured in a <contrib-group>

Each <aff> element must have a @id attribute which contains a unique identifier for the affiliation which is used for linking to the relevant contributor(s) (see Contributor Cross References).

If the affiliation is numbered it must contain a <label> containing the relevant label text.

If the text of the affiliation contains the name of an institution or a country that text must be captured in <institution> or <country> elements respectively.
